In this experience we set off from Ponta Delgada towards the parish of Lomba de São Pedro, in the municipality of Ribeira Grande for a walk that will show us the northern coast of the island of São Miguel. This is an ideal walk if you like nature, waterfalls and coastal landscapes. You can also learn about the ancient agricultural production and mills that were used in this area.
This is a circular route and takes about two and a half hours to walk the 5,5 km long trail. We start the walk near the church of São Pedro and the first few metres are spent walking down a dirt track towards the ocean. We will pass by the Rocha belvedere before reaching the Homem waterfall.
We continue the path that will take us towards the ruins of the old Félix mill, Teófilo waterfall, Gruta waterfall and also the Truta Well. These are places of immense beauty and we are sure you will enjoy photographing them to remember later! At the end of this trail we will find some fountains used to supply water to the population, before returning to the São Pedro church.
